Rural Idaho: Challenged to Change by IdahoStatesman.com is a package of stories, photographs and audio files reporting the many difficulties confronting residents of the state’s wide open territories. These reports were part of a year-long look at the problems and options facing Idaho’s rural communities. The Idaho Statesman teamed up with the Idaho Edition of the Spokane Spokesman-Review, the Idaho Falls Post Register, the Lewiston Morning Tribune, Idaho Public Television and KTVB Channel 7. More than 1,000 Idahoans were interviewed, polled or participated in a series of town-hall meetings around the state as part of this project, which appeared on the Web, in all four newspapers and on KTVB. Winner, First Associated Press Managing Editors APMEOnline Convergence Awards in the under-50,000 circulation category.
